Course Description

In today's diverse classrooms, implementing differentiated instruction methodologies to meet every pupil's unique needs is more crucial than ever. However, a teacher's workload often does not allow them to put into practice their knowledge and principles in the classroom.

This practical course blends this innovative teaching method with the latest technology, showing teachers how to efficiently leverage AI for student engagement across all areas of learning. It focuses on the hands-on application of AI tools to effectively implement differentiated instruction across content, process, and assessment.

You will explore how AI can help create truly personalised learning paths for every pupil, from primary to secondary levels.

Course Content

  • Core Differentiated Instruction (DI) principles and frameworks
  • AI differentiation in the classroom: Using AI for ethical student needs analysis
  • Mastering prompt engineering for differentiated instruction to design lesson structures and activities
  • AI-powered content creation: Leveraging AI for multi-modal content and visual support
  • Creating and curating differentiated learning resources that fit specific learning objectives
  • Designing adaptive learning activities that adjust difficulty to meet student needs
  • Tailoring learning paths and creating scaffolding resources
  • Implementing interactive learning pathways with dialogue simulations and gamified learning
  • AI for differentiated assessment creation
  • Fostering student engagement and building an inclusive classroom with AI

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Learn and apply Differentiated Instruction (DI) principles effectively in an AI-enhanced classroom context.
  • Understand AI's capabilities for student profiling and AI content adaptation education, considering ethical implications.
  • Utilise prompt engineering for differentiated instruction to plan and structure lessons with tailored approaches.
  • Employ AI to identify and curate relevant learning resources that fit specific objectives, age-appropriateness, and complexity levels.
  • Create diversified learning materials and support resources using AI, including multi-modal content.
  • Design varied activities and practice exercises, including AI for adaptive quizzes and AI scaffolding questions.
  • Implement AI for interactive learning pathways through dialogue simulations and branching narratives.
  • Utilise AI for differentiated assessment methods, including generating varied rubric criteria and tiered assignments.

Assessment and Certificates

Assessment of performance will be through a delegate-completed portfolio of work. The final course certification for successful completion is a college-issued “Course Certificate of Completion” for each module studied. In addition, where applicable, delegates will receive relevant EuroPass certificates.
